A sense of normalcy for the Islanders:

News broke this morning that Brock Nelson and Casey Cizikas skated with the team this morning, which is incredible news.

Brock Nelson left the game vs. Toronto on November 21st with a lower-body injury and it was announced days later that he would miss 2-4 weeks and luckily it is looking much closer to 2 weeks than 4. The Islanders have had so much trouble scoring this season and even though Nelson has missed 2+ weeks of action, he remains the Islanders top goal scorer (9G). The team needs him back desperately, he will likely need a few days to get back into game shape.

Cizikas was the final Islander to be added to the COVID-19 protocol list; he was added on November 27th. He will also likely need a few days to get back into game form.

The Islanders will play tonight against Nashville at UBS Arena. The team is finally back to ALMOST their complete roster. They are still unfortunately missing Ryan Pulock to injury. Hopefully, we will see Cizikas and Nelson take their spots back in the line-up very soon. The current 4th line is “Martin-Parise-Clutterbuck” and Kieffer Bellows has filled in for Nelson during his injury.

For the first time since November 16th (23 days) the Islanders have absolutely nobody on the COVID protocol list. An incredible step in the right direction!
