News broke just before 11pm last night by insider Darren Dreger that your New York Islanders and Ryan Pulock have agreed to an 8 year extension. Just under $50 million total.
This is an incredible deal and for me, I just cannot believe that Lou was able to get both this deal and the Pelech deal done for so cheap. They will both be Islanders until the end of the decade for just about $12M a year combined. An absolute robbery. Ryan Pulock’s market value is listed at 8.0M AAV by the Athletic and with his extremely team friendly contract Lou is now able to use that extra ≅ 2M elsewhere. The first 5 years there’s no trade clause and in the last 3 years there is a limited no trade clause for his deal that will end in 2030.
Ryan Pulock and Adam Pelech were just named the league's best defensive duo by The Score so this was perfect timing to lock up both guys long term. Lou Lamoriello getting these deals done makes a strong case for his potential third straight Jim Gregory Award.
