The New York Islanders have officially agreed terms with Anatoly Golyshev on a one year, two-way deal. You might be wondering who is Anatoly Golyshev. Well Anatoly Golyshev is a 26 year old Russian winger who previously played for Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg of the KHL. Golyshev was selected by the Islanders early in the fourth round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Golyshev is someone that rose through the ranks of the KHL and became one of the best wingers in all of the league. We all know the KHL has produced many talents in the past, most recently Kirill Kaprizov of the Minnesota Wild and Artemi Panarin of the New York Rangers. Golyshev is certainly someone to keep an eye out for as the Islanders are in need of some offensive Spark.
Anatoly Golyshev is no slouch and can definitely make an impact on the Islanders roster. During his eight year tenure in the KHL Golyshev impressed as he scored 103 goals and tallied 105 assists for a total of 208 points. Golyshev’s skill set saw him excel in the KHL where he made defenseman look like pylons as he swiftly skated around them creating chances after chances. Golyshev’s hockey IQ is something that sets him apart from the rest as he is someone who moves the puck quickly making effective decisions that dictate the outcome of the play. It is yet to be decided on whether or not Golyshev will start up in the NHL or down in the AHL with Bridgeport but only time will tell.
The Islanders have had problems filling in the third line winger spot for years now and Golyshev might be the guy to claim that spot. Coach Trotz has tried many solutions such as playing Komarov or Dal Colle on the third line in the past. However, neither Dal Colle or Komarov could bring consistent performances and that is something that Golyshev brings to the table. Golyshev would make JG Pageau and Oliver Wahlstrom even better as his decision making is quick and effortless. Golyshev’s numbers in the KHL translate to around 40 points in the NHL. This is brilliant to hear as previous players who occupied that third line winger role were unable to achieve anywhere close to that. Obviously we don't know for sure how Golyshev’s game will translate to the NHL but i have high hopes for this guy. I firmly believe that Golyshev can bring crucial scoring when it matters most and can be a player to watch for years to come. LETS GO ISLANDERS!
